Board member positions available
Polijazz is seeking new board members! If you’re interested in keeping Polijazz open and thriving for others to enjoy, your efforts would be truly invaluable.

Polijazz will be hosting an election meeting on 17.12.2025 at Kylän Olohuone, which will also be available online via a zoom link posted to the group telegram chat. This would be a great opportunity to apply for a position.

Class description
Have you always wanted to try dancing in heels? Then this Commercial Heels Workshop is just for you! The class is suitable for everyone – both beginners and experienced dancers who want to practice performing, feel the groove, and simply enjoy moving. Although we’ll be dancing in heels, they’re not required – you can absolutely dance in socks if you prefer. We’ll spend quite a bit of time on the floor, so wearing long pants and knee pads (if you have them) are warmly recommended. The workshop is taught by Vilja Lohi who’s style is feminine, sensual, and full of floorwork – expect a dynamic, empowering, and expressive class!

Vilja Lohi, has 18 years of dance experience and 6 years of background in the heels style. She has previously taught individual dance classes and, over the past year, has worked as the artistic director and instructor of a dance group together with her partner. Vilja’s style is feminine, sensual, and full of floorwork – expect a dynamic, empowering, and expressive class!

Class description
This class invites you to get from your head into your body, to arrive in the space, let go of the day, and connect with yourself, others, and your surroundings through movement. We’ll begin by warming up the body, activating the skin, and exploring our physical possibilities and limits. Gradually, we’ll build movement vocabulary through improvisation exercises and floor work. In the final part of the class, we’ll bring it all together, improvising to different kinds of music. To close, we’ll slow down and do our stretches. Practical info: Wear comfortable clothing and long trousers. We’ll be moving both through the space and on the floor. Dancing barefoot is recommended for better grip, but socks are also fine. No shoes needed.

I’m Amelie and I started dancing contemporary in 2017. Over the years I explored contact, modern, hip hop, ballet, 5-rhythms, and improvisation with different teachers. I use dance as a tool to connect with my body, emotions, and creativity. Improvisation has become something I return to again and again because it creates space to explore and express freely without judgement. This class is about sharing that space together.

Closed –Polijazz end of semester party!
Welcome to the end of semester party! Every semesters end we want to welcome all Polijazz dancers and teachers to join us to celebrate a great semester together, where we can share our dance passions! If you would like to demonstrate your new learnt skills by putting on a show this is always welcomed. There will be music for grooving and snacks and drinks.

STREET DANCE
House Dance foundations
Teacher – Anna Saves

Workshop Date – 24th of April 2024
Time – 19.30-21.00 pm

Anna Saves is a versatile dancer, who has years of experience in street styles and contemporary dance. Anna’s dancing path started from house dance which rhythms and flow hooked her right away.
Workshop focuses on the foundation of House dance and we’ll go through basic steps, rhythms, grooving and learn some tools for freestyle. No special dance background is required! Sweat and fun are guaranteed!
